Swindon Animals Asia Support Group was set up in 2007 by Sarah and David Chilvers after visiting the Moon Bear Rescue Centre in China.
We are a dedicated group of people volunteering our time to help raise awareness and vital funds for the charity through events in our local area and by spreading the word and developing our network of supporters.
Our aims are to highlight the plight of the moon bears that are held captive on bear bile farms across China and Vietnam and raise money to help Animals Asia rescue, rehabilitate and care for these tortured moon bears.
Animals Asia is an animal welfare charity whose main aim is to bring about an end to the barbaric practice of bear bile farming where moon bears are confined in metal cages for up to 20 years, unable to move around and regularly subjected to the painful extraction of bile through their abdomens for the use in traditional Chinese medicines.
The charity was founded by Jill Robinson MBE in 1998 and is a UK registered charity. Today, Animals Asia has rescued over 400 bears, caring for them at its award-winning bear sanctuaries in China and Vietnam.
