On the 21st Sept 11 Animals Asia supporters began their challenge of a lifetime at Heathrow airport on route to Beijing to complete a 6 day challenge to walk one of the great wonders of the world.
Sarah and David Chilvers from Swindon together with their fellow supporters walked some of the most spectacular parts of the wall, parts most tourists never see and also had the opportunity to leave their mark upon the Wall by helping to restore it. They had the opportunity to explore Beijing's Hutongs(local houses) on bicycles and visited the famous Ming Tombs.
The highlight of the trip was visiting the moon bear rescue centre which is in
Chengdu where they met Jill Robinson. She gave them a tour of the centre and they were delighted to meet the bears and even had the chance to feed treats to them. The evening was rounded off with drinks on top of Freedom's den and a delicious veggy chinese banquet.Everyone stayed the night at the sanctuary and were spurred on to carry on raising money so that AAF can rescue more bears. The whole group together raised approximately £20,000.
